Leo Stein (1872-1947): American art collector and critic, as well as elder brother of Gertrude Stein.
This striking portrait depicts Leo Stein, the older brother of Gretrude Stein. Leo was educated at both Harvard and Johns Hopkins. Spending his summers in Paris with Gertrude, Leo exiled himself to Florence upon the arrival of Alice B. Toklas. He was a noted modern art collector, art historian and critic.
