Morin, on a journey back from Paris accosts a young girl on the train. She threatens court. He hires someone to go to her and her uncle and settle the matter. More infatuations with the girl occur by the retained man but everyone continues to speak of the affairs of "that pig of a Morin" when he has not been involved and others have.
