Ohio Holsteins Near Lake Cowan
Ink and watercolor on paper
1964
Signed, dated and titled in ink by the artist lower right
This pastoral landscape is a strong contrast to Dehn's early social commentary and urban landscape. Done late in his career, it depicts a quiet rural scene, inspired by the artist's early Minnesota upbringing. His mastery of composition is clearly demonstrated by the patterning of the cows. His creative cycle has now come full circle.
